Gratitude from growth

Hello Reader, and thank you for joining my mailing list! 💜

This is my very first gazette! Where I share what’s new and have a closer connection with readers, art collectors, and fans of all things fantasy. I look forward to continuing the gazette with new topics and discussions about my art & writing career, along with sharing new works directly with you.

I have now graduated from the University of Connecticut! 🎉🎓 There’s so much that I want to share and reflect on my experience studying at the university that I may break them into segments in future gazettes about the student life now that I’m an alumni. Starting with what I studied in, I continued my education majoring in a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts for Animation/Illustration. The classes I took helped me improve my work tremendously, and I discovered more about myself than I ever did back in 2022.

Art Now (2025)

Between taking the basic classes that focused on the foundations and branching out to more advanced classes, I saw a great shift in my art style and confidence. My favorite classes of my entire UCONN experience have been Going Pro, Topics of Illustration, and, of course, the Senior Project, being a storyteller, illustration is something that I am naturally pulled to more.

Topics of Illustration focuses on different art careers that illustrators can work for, and each semester has a different set of topics*. I would love to explore more topics to learn about in opening more doors of opportunities for my work as an illustrator. My favorite is the most common and popular of the careers, being a children’s book illustrator and book cover designer. Going Pro was all about stepping into the professional world and my identity as an artist. Much of what I learned in class helped me with my own brand as LunaLunestia, the colors, the themes, who I am, and what I do, solidified how I create my illustrations and stories in whimsical fantasy art and literature.

The Senior Project, where I proposed to create a 15-page YA (16 years and older) fantasy comic titled Origins. It is an extended prologue to my ongoing comic series, The Elements of Luna, where we explore Luna’s origins and how she became mortal. It was by far the most stressful, but fun of all my class assignments in my UCONN experience.

To help with the creation of Origins, I also chose to do an Independent Study to work on worldbuilding and character design. Having the concept art helped me with the art direction and mapping out the location of each scene throughout the comic book.

Finally, I will say that True Source (how I call God) had guided me with His hand in creating an epic that so many people enjoyed and loved dearly after reading in the Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Show, and I’m so grateful for it. I certainly plan on continuing Origins to create a full graphic novel as a prelude to The Elements of Luna, with the next chapter focusing on the Atlantean King, Azaes, and his origins. Followed by Terra, then Solaris, Izar, and a few new characters to conclude Origins and lead into The Elements of Luna.

Now that I’ve graduated from UCONN, I currently have a contract job with Heart Based Institutes to illustrate a self-help visual novel for them. In the meantime, all comics and art fairs are on hold until I’m done. I’m so excited to share the final work once it’s all done with all of you!

A Snippet of The Elements of Luna & Origins

Congratulations on reading the whole gazette! As a reward, I have a sneak peek into what I’m working on for my passion projects, The Elements of Luna and Origins! If you have bought a copy of Origins or read it during UCONN’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Show back in Spring 2025, I have plans for the next issue of the story!

Origins: Azaes is now in development.

Azaes has become a fan favorite to some readers who have read Origins. It is now in the pre-planning stage, where I begin brain-storming, working on concept art, and rough drafts for what the next installment will be. This chapter will mainly focus on Azaes and his point of view after being rescued by Luna, now searching for answers as he’s stranded on Terra’s island. Many of the ongoing themes in Origins Azaes will focus on romance, family dynamics, and prophecy.

The Elements of Luna returns in 2026.

As soon as I’m done with my contract job, I plan to return to working on chapters for The Elements of Luna and complete volume 1 of the series. Chapter 4: Lost is the shortest chapter and already prepped to start inking and coloring, with some pages already finished. This chapter will be the turning point in Kristal Lunestia’s story. For anyone who knows the hero’s journey, we will finally reach “The Call to Adventure” section of that hero’s journey. I’m so excited for this chapter and look forward to returning to work on The Elements of Luna again in the spring of 2026.
